Nominate an Everyday Hero!
We are looking for nominations of individuals who support the mental health of children and youth.
The theme of the 2022 Children's Mental Health Acceptance Week, celebrated May 1–7, is “Be A Mental Health Hero.” This year, Texas is coming together to honor the mental health heroes throughout the state!

Mental health heroes come in many different forms. From being a compassionate listener, to supporting youth to use their gifts, to advocating for the needs of youth and families...we want to hear who is a hero to you.

Selected nominees:
  • Will be asked to provide a short video about why they share their strengths with children and families. Their picture and video will be featured on the 2022 Children's Mental Health Acceptance website.
  • Must live in Texas and provide permission to be recognized on the website.

ABOUT

One out of every five children has a diagnosable mental health need. Unfortunately, not every child who has a mental health need receives services. This could be due to not knowing what services are available; it could be because they have difficulty accessing services, or because of discrimination against those who receive mental health care.

The annual Children’s Mental Health Acceptance Day is a free, virtual statewide event that provides information about community services while empowering children and families to rise above mental health stigma.

State agencies, mental health organizations, and the local community can still listen to testimonies from youth and families who have shown perseverance, as well as hear from a prominent keynote speaker. The online event, promoted throughout the month of May, will also feature games and activities; a community resource fair; and a "community wall" where Texas advocates can share why children's mental health is important to them.
